Pool Care and Legacy Pool
Information
Opening Your Legacy Pool
When you first set up your Legacy Pool you are going to
want to make sure you have everything set up just right
and that your water chemistry is balanced and good to
go. A good start will save you many problems down the
line.
Preparing the Equipment
1. Remove any water and debris that have accumulated on
your pool cover during the winter.
2. Take off the pool cover. Before storing, clean the
cover with a cover cleaner to prevent mildew and
premature deterioration.
3. Hook up the pool pump and filter. Reconnect any hoses
and electrical connections that may have detached.
(Be sure to follow the pool manufacturer's
instructions.)
4. Make sure your skimmer, filter, pumps, drains and
other equipment are clean and free of winter debris.
5. Use a leaf skimmer to scoop up all surface and
submerged debris.
6. Bring the pool water up to the proper level (about
halfway up the skimmer).
7. Make sure all your hoses and electrical hookups are
in order.
8. Turn on your filter pump. (Chemically clean the
filter if it was not chemically cleaned last fall.)
9. Check the skimmers, drains and filters to make sure
they're functioning properly.
10. If your filtration system operates off an automatic
timer, set the timer to operate at least 8 to 10 hours
during a
24-hour period during summer
11. Allow the water to circulate for at least 4 to 6
hours before preparing the pool water.
Preparing the Pool Water
1. Test & Adjust Pool Water Readings
After the pump/filter has run for 4 - 6 hours, take a
pool water sample for a
full analysis. Balance the water per the dealer's
recommendations. If metals are detected, add Metal
Control per label directions. Your dealer will test for
and advise you how to adjust the following pool water
readings: pH, Total Alkalinity, Chlorine, Calcium
Hardness and Cyanuric Acid
2. Shock Treat
3. Add Algaecide
4. Stabilize
Add stabilizer if desired.
5. Add Primary Sanitizer
Once the pool water is clean and clear and the water
balance readings are within the recommended ranges, it
is
time to add your preferred Sanitizer (Always read the
label directions for dosage instructions).
